This project was a group project with Ioannis Boufis.

''..Everything we see exists. We can see it. I can see mammy's eyes, but I can't see my eyes. The little baby can see his hands, but he cannot see himself. So... does he really exist? Do I really exist?..''

The brief asked to create a ''device'' that would ''produce'' something that might not be materialistic.

This device makes possible the division of space through the skeleton and fabric of the wings. it serves as a canvas for creating shadows accordingly to the direction of the light that falls over it. The device creates for the user a space within the space.

This use of the device finds its roots to Shadow Projection (Psychological Projection) which is a psychological defense mechanism where a person subconsciously denies his or her own attributes, thoughts and emotions, which are then ascribed to the outside world, usually to other people. Thus, projection involves imagining or projecting the belief that others originate those feelings.

According to Sigmund Freud, projection is a psychological defense mechanism whereby one ''projects'' one's own undesirable thoughts, motivations, desires and feelings onto someone else. Emotions or excitations, which the ego tries to ward off, are ''spit out'' and then felt as being outside the ego.. perceived in another person. The impulse projected onto an external object does not appear as something alien and distant from the ego because the connection of the self with that projected impulse continues.

Part of the device is inspired by the part of the Icarus legend, where the sun pierces the wings of Icarus. The material that is used to create the main body of the wings is a very light see-through fabric, which is dyed in various colors that resemble melted wax (the material from which Icarus wing's were made of).

When the sun pierces through the wings the user can see distorted images of the existent reality and landscape. The user can use this in his advantage to sketch or photograph what he is able to see and translate from the outcome of this effect.
